Through our  continued presence in this region, Jersey Trust Company has built close partnerships with numerous clients, their advisors and professionals in the Gulf Cooperation Council (‘GCC’).  Examples of our experiences include the creation of joint venture vehicles for investors brought together by a common interest or shared investment opportunity and more.

Our Private Wealth division has been providing services to a wide range of clients for over 20 years. Examples of our experience in providing formation and administration services for vehicles such as trusts, companies and partnerships are highlighted in this download.

In early 2007, ‘JTscene’ was born, delivering updates on what is happening at Jersey Trust Company and the international finance arena at large. Our inaugural newsletter introduces our funds practice, JTC Fund Services, with a specific focus on our ‘Category 1’ membership of the Channel Island Stock Exchange (CISX). Other articles focus on the transactions we have been involved in such as the listing of Fabian Romania in addition to our involvement with the Landmark development in London.

In this issue we focus primarily on our property practice which is a core part of our business, particularly within our Corporate Division. We discuss our involvement in listing the Madara Bulgarian Property Fund on AIM, our experience with the property market in the UK and we round off with the all important role of financing property deals.

Our Private Wealth division is introduced in JTscene Issue Three and specifically focuses on our Swiss and BVI offices, private trust companies and managed trust companies. Other articles look at impending changes to Jersey’s trust legislation in addition to the proposed introduction of foundations. Special mention is also made to those Jersey Trust Company employees who are doing their bit for charity.

In this issue of JTscene, we focus on the diverse range of services provided by our Corporate division. We also discuss our links with the Middle East and introduce the types of services we provide to listed companies. A brief mention is also made regarding the hugely successful inaugural Branchage Film Festival of which Jersey Trust Company was a headline sponsor.

In JTscene 5 we introduce the latest addition to the JTC Group network with a profile of our new Luxembourg office; examine the Aegis Film Fund and celebrate our success at the recent Jersey Enterprise Awards - including an online video clip of Nigel Le Quesne’s acceptance speech on the night.

In 2008, there were amendmends to the Jersey Company law and regulations. Areas of particular interest include capital maintenance requirements, corporate directors, financial assistance and cell companies.

In May 2008, the States of Jersey implemented a Goods and Services Tax, applied at a single rate of 3% on the majority of goods and services supplied in the Island. The purpose of this briefing note is to outline the background for the introduction of GST in Jersey in addition to how these measures will affect the services provided by Jersey Trust Company.

In the early part of 2008, Jersey introduced the Unregulated Fund regime allowing the formation of funds meeting a certain criteria without the need for regulatory approval. This move will heighten Jersey’s position in the global fund market and enable promoters to take advantage of the ‘lighter touch’ approach offered to ‘Unregulated Eligible Investor Funds’ and ‘Unregulated Exchange Traded Funds’.

Introduced in 2008, the Zero/Ten tax regime has, generally speaking, created a level playing field from a fiscal perspective for both domestically and foreign owned Jersey companies. Consequently, the Jersey ‘exempt’ company is no longer available. The purpose of this briefing note is to detail the main features of the Zero/Ten tax regime and the impact it has on the entities administered by Jersey Trust Company.

This edition of Communicate highlights the particulars of a Jersey Foundation as well as its potential uses. Consideration is given to administrative matters and we outline the services which Jersey Trust Company will be able to provide.

Family Limited Partnerships provide a way of ensuring that wealth is protected and passed onto the next generation and offer an alternative to the more traditional trust vehicle previously used. The purpose of this briefing note is to outline the main features of an Offshore Family Limited Partnership and how JTC can assist in providing services to these vehicles.

Employer Financed Retirement Benefit Schemes ('EFRBS') are company sponsored arrangements, designed for individuals who  wish to accumulate retirement benefits outside of an approved pension scheme. EFRBS offer a flexible alternative to a UK registered pension scheme or an employee benefit trust and this briefing note provides an overview of these arrangements and the services that Jersey Trust Company can provide.

As part of the strategic growth plans of the JTC Group, our Luxembourg office has opened for business. This Communicate offers an overview of JTC Luxembourg, the range of services we are able to offer our clients and intermediary partners, as well as details of our Luxembourg-based management team.

As a Recognised Exchange, the Channel Islands Stock Exchange offers a solution for mitigating withholding tax using the ‘Quoted Eurobond’ exemption for those parties who those who have debt arrangements with overseas parties. JTC Fund Services is a Category 1 Sponsor on the Channel Islands Stock Exchange and can act as a cost effective Sponsor to the issuance of new debt security or as a Continuing Sponsor for an existing debt security.

With more than 3,000 listings, the Channel Islands Stock Exchange (“CISX”) has been recognised by a number of important financial institutions throughout the world. JTC Fund Services holds a Category 1 membership to CISX enabling it to list all types of securities onto this exchange. This download provides an introduction to CISX which has now been in operation for over 10 years.
